Kinondo Kwetu - Diani Beach, Kenya

Diani Beach - South Coast of Mombasa, Kenya

Kinondo Kwetu is a small, all-inclusive luxury resort owned and operated by a Swedish family. Kinondo Kwetu, a private retreat on the Indian Ocean beach, is a home, not an entertainment centre. The retreat will accommodate only 38 guests in a selection of cottages, each of which is individually presented. There are two pools, a lounge, library and wellbeing spa.

Kenya coast
Kenya's south coast, one of her most popular beach holiday destinations, offers clear blue sea, marine parks, excellent water sports, coral reefs, monsoon winds, numerous hotels and beach resorts, family vacations, sun n sand, cultural and beach travel and more. Close to Mombasa, it is also within easy reach of Malindi, Lamu, Diani and many other popular Kenya safari resort hotels.

Location and seasons
Diani beach is 25 miles south of Mombasa. Kenya's stunning coastline (485 km from Nairobi) runs 700 km between the Tanzanian and Somali borders and is renowned for its silken white sandy beaches, coconut palms, sheltered lagoons, pellucid blue waters, remote islands, uncharted mangrove swamps and mysterious Arab and Swahili ruins, many of which date back to the 8th Century AD. An idyllic climate cooled by the monsoon, the Swahili coast offers a daily average of 8 hours of sunshine, and the hot steamy climate is tempered by the monsoon winds: the south-easterly Kusi, which blows from April to October; and the north-easterly Kaskazi which blows from November to March.

The background
Kenya's pristine and well-developed coral reef extends virtually without break from Shimoni in the south to Malindi in the north, some 230 Km in total. The reef is broken only in a few places by river mouths and creeks; and of these the deepest and most sheltered safe channels through the reef are those that lie on either side of Mombasa Island.

The retreat will accommodate 38 guests in an assortment of cottages, which can be adapted according to requirements. There are also two kitchens and access to the main family house. Every room and cottage has its own personalized character, and is furnished and decorated with Swahili culture handicraft and antiquities. All double rooms are equipped with king size beds and all rooms with fans and mosquito nets.

Dining and bars
Kinondo Kwetu is renowned for its cuisine, which benefits from locally produced fruits and vegetables. Three-course lunches and dinners are served al fresco, with fresh fish and seafood being natural favourites. We are happy to make any arrangements to meet with personal diet requirements and children's menus.

Conference and event facilities
The retreat adapts itself well to corporate retreats.

The resort is very child friendly.

What to see and do
The vast East African reef is there for you to explore, be it scuba diving, snorkeling, or by boat. Try deep-sea fishing. Or learn kite boarding, an exhilarating and eco-friendly sport perfectly suited for the southern coast of Kenya. We have our own PADI center, so if you are thinking of getting a diving certificate, do it at Kinondo Kwetu.

We arrange excursions along the coast to nearby islands and up a river looking for crocodiles.
