The
Seychelles |

Lying 1,800kms. off the coast of Africa are the 115 islands that make up
the Seychelles. The archipelago is spread over 1.3 million sq. kms. of
blue ocean with a total land surface of 455sq. kms. Seventy five of the
islands are coraline and the rest are granitic with over 100 being named.
The Seychelles are the only mid-ocean granite islands in the world. The
islands keeps an average temperature of between 24 to 30 degrees
centigrade, and the weather is fair year round, with no cyclones or other
extreme conditions. Forty-five percent of the total landmass is national
parks, reserves or protected land areas and 228sq. kms. has been allocated
to marine preservation.

The Aldabra and Vallee de Mai Islands are two World Heritage sites. African,
Malagasy and French descendants live together in a melting pot that has
resulted in a dynamic culture, new culinary delights and a peaceful nation.
