I just returned home from my safari. My Tanzania safari was AMAZING! It far exceeded my expectations and was the trip of a lifetime. Everything was so well planned. The accommodations were excellent. The itinerary was perfect and the pace of the trip ideal. The entire trip could not have been any better. It was WONDERFUL! A huge part of the success of my safari was my guide, Raphael Kugesha. He was so knowledgeable and readily shared his knowledge with me. He constantly made sure I was having an exceptional trip. Raphael is a Tanzanian gem. I can't imagine a better guide. Thank you all for the best trip ever. You all did a wonderful job and I will be recommending all of you to my friends.

Dear African Horizons,
My husband and I were on an African Horizons safari in Kenya and Tanzania September 5 through 22, 2014, when our trip was cut short due to a severe back issue.
We cannot speak highly enough of African Horizons and its wonderful staff who helped us through this difficult time.
Our guide/driver in Kenya was Stephen who is extremely knowledgeable on African culture, history, topography, flora and fauna. There were no questions left unanswered and we always felt safe and in good hands with Stephen. His ability to spot wildlife, while navigating bumpy roads, was uncanny.
I didn't think anyone would compare to Stephen, however, Wakara, our Tanzanian guide/driver was just as amazing. We also learned he had additional exceptional qualities of caring and empathy when he became an invaluable help in arranging last minute accommodations and flights out of the Kirawira Tent Camp on the Serengeti back to Nairobi for medical help. I believe this was done with the assistance of someone by the name of Frank, from the African Horizons office. Wakara never left us until we were safely on our flight to Nairobi. We were even greeted by an African Horizons representative, I believe her name may have been Stephanie, en route to Nairobi at the Kilamanjaro Airport, just to make sure we were okay.
And lastly, our wonderful Edwin Wangari, who took care of everything for us in Nairobi from our hospital visit, to our hotel accommodation, to finding ATMs for us, to keeping us informed, to making payment of additional expenses hassle free. He was extremely patient, kind and compassionate to our situation and I don't know how we would have managed all the details without him. He also seemed to spend extra time with us making sure we were okay and checking to see if there was anything else he could do for us. Once again, we felt extremely safe and well taken care of until we had to say goodbye to Edwin at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.
We would highly recommend African Horizons to anyone who is looking for a safari tour company, not only for their spectacular itineraries, but mostly for their knowledgeable, caring and accommodating employees. Employees who go above and beyond. They were all amazing and invaluable to us and we do hope that everyone involved is acknowledged and recognized in a positive way.
You have our permission to use any or all of our comments as testimonials.
Asante sana,

June 2014
Recently I had the pleasure of a trip to Africa (June 2014). The purpose of this e-mail is to thank African Horizons (Tour Number TEC 182) for contributing so greatly to making this trip a truly memorable experience.
First, the guide/drivers in Tanzania (Harry Richard) and Kenya (Eric Maina) were superb for a number of reasons:
(i) they had superb eyes to spot wildlife;
(ii) they had encyclopedic knowledge about the extremely wide variety of wildlife that we observed;
(iii) they were superb drivers, a significant feature given some challenging roads; and
(iv), they were very friendly and congenial people. In short, I could not have had better people to introduce me to the African wildlife.
Second, the organization of the tour was, in retrospect, very wise by introducing me to the fabulous wildlife first on a smaller scale at Lake Manyara and Ngorongoro Crater which was great preparation for seeing wildlife in the vast expanses of the Serengeti and Masai Mara.
Third, all the accommodation was superb with great locations, very good food and lodge staff that were universally friendly and welcoming. It is hard to pick out a favourite lodge but the Ashnil Mara Camp in the Masai Mara provided the amazing experience of waking in the morning to the sounds of hippos grunting in the nearby Mara River.
Finally, the Nairobi crew that met me at Wilson Airport, transported me to the Carnivore restaurant and the Stanley Hotel, and then picked me up the next morning for transport to the Kenyatta International Airport were congenial and punctual, all that one can ask for when on holiday.
This African adventure was a sensational experience, so once again I want to thank all those involved at African Horizons.
Best regards,

Sitting at Lake Elementeita listening to the frogs with Bombay Sapphire gin martini in hand. Fabulous day at Lake Nakuru National Park...both black and white rhinos, baboons galore, zebras, Rothchild giraffes, so many wonderful birds I cannot count..flamingos, pelicans, storks, eagles, etc.
Scenery wonderful. Serena even better...massages, manicures were essential after Il Ngwesi. Il Ngwesi was so amazing in its own way. The leopards and baboons were vocalizing under the almost full moon while we slept under the stars on the deck of our Banda...
Wonderfulness all.

We are now back in Denmark again, after an fantastic trip to Kenya. We are very satisfied with African Horizons. And we most say, that you have given us an fantastic guide, Obama is a very kind
Person and he did more than we could expect from him to show us,the animals in Kenya, we have seen all the normal animals but also the remarkable ones.
We had a joke in the car: USA have a president name Obama, bud we have Obama, our own king of Masai Mara.
We will recommend your firm and Obama.

Hi I'm sorry that it has taken me this long to write---but things happen. I want management to know that you have a great employee working for you his name is Ahmed M. From the time that he picked us up at the airport in Nairobi to the time that he dropped us off 2 weeks later ---he took care of us always. there were 3 in our group with another couple . this other couple especially the woman named Rose were very difficult. And yet ahmed was always on time , very professional and always extremely kind to everyone.
Ahmed went out of his way to make sure that everyone felt comfortable and cared for. Ahmed even got the bathroom keys for us and rest spots. There were times in the jeep when we were tired, dirty --exhausted but Ahmed was our light in shinning armor. He never lost his cool. In Canada you can not find someone like him. He is a gem and I want you to know that Ahmed made our trip to Africa the trip of my dreams. I never know that this trip would be so educational --but Ahmed was our teacher and we learned it all . Please thank Ahmed from the bottom of our hearts for everything. We are the Koenigsberg family that traveled Kenya and Tanzania Aug-Sept. It will always be a high light in our life our trip to Africa---thanks for have Ahmed as an employee.
Sincerely Gale and Paul Koenigsberg

I am writing to say "THANK-YOU" to African Horizons for the trip of a lifetime; our lifetime! We had the wonderful experience of being on safari with Mustafa, travelling through Kenya and Tanzania. We knew from the minute we met Mustafa and Christopher at the airport, that we were in most capable hands and were now ready for our adventure. The knowledge, humor and kindness we enjoyed throughout our safari, was evident from our first introductions!
I was travelling with my elderly parents and my two teenage sons. This I knew could be quite the challenge for even the most experienced of guides. My concerns quickly disappeared. We felt comfortable and safe the throughout the entire journey. The professionalism and attention to detail was so evident with African Horizons. .
I worked many years in the travel industry for Canada's largest tour operator, visiting many exciting destinations. Our trip with African Horizons was definitely the best trip I have ever been on. It was the most organized and well planned trip, with a variety of accommodations and daily activities. Each new day brought with it a different, exciting adventure.
The safari was such an incredible journey! In every regard, it was flawless. Mustafa was undoubtedly the best tour guide I have ever had the pleasure of travelling with. The entire safari, Mustafa humored and entertained us, sharing with us his many stories about life in Kenya. His vast knowledge of tribal life was so interesting and much appreciated. Within a few days, we proudly considered Mustafa more than just our guide; he was our friend. Mustafa had a great impact on us all. Mustafa has a special gift and how fortunate we were to have spent our time with him. We are all better people for it! He is in every regard, a true ambassador to not only your company, but to Africa in general.
We really enjoyed the variety of accommodation. Each property had its' own uniqueness and we enjoyed them all with one exception. We found the Kibo Safari Tented Camp to not be of the same standard as the rest of the properties. Our favorite property was the Mbuzi Mawe camp in Tanzania. We found our stay there remarkable and definitely one of our highlights. The staff was so incredibly friendly and paid attention to every detail of our stay. In particular, Reginald, Harold, and Eugene were amazing. We have many fond memories of our time spent with them.
One of the most memorable experiences of our trip, was the day we visited Malezi School. My sons are both avid basketball players and rarely go a day without playing. They were going through basketball withdrawal and missing it badly. When Mustafa realized this, he contacted Chris. Chris set to work and magically organized a basketball scrimmage for my sons to participate in at this school. My boys still talk about this and will remember it as a highlight of their trip. We cannot thank Chris enough for putting such effort in to arranging this event. While at the school, in conversation with their coach, we discovered the interest in a possible team trip to Canada. We will be in contact with the school to see if this is a possibility. What an experience that would be and it would all be possible because of Chris's great efforts! Thank you Chris.
We have now been back in Canada for two months and the impact of our safari and time spent in Africa never ceases to amaze us. The sights and experiences of your wonderful continent marvel that of anywhere. When asked about our trip, one can only reply how great it was but in no way can convey its' emotional impact. We believe that one must experience the adventure to fully realize and appreciate it. Words cannot paint a vivid enough picture to describe it. You must live the adventure to get the full appreciation of what it means to be "on safari". We were expecting the animals to be amazing but were not anticipating to be affected by the people of your great nation the way we were. For us, it was so much more than just the animals. It was the people of Kenya and Tanzania that now make our memories so important and we will cherish those memories for our lifetime. For this, my parents, my sons and I, say a heartfelt thank you to all of you at African Horizons for making our safari the adventure it was!
Yours truly,
