The Ngorongoro Crater is celebrated for its dense concentration of wildlife, with opportunities for remarkably close-range viewing. Here, lions patrol the plains, elephants wander through forested groves, and large herds of wildebeest and zebra graze the open grasslands. Buffalo, hippos, warthogs, and jackals are commonly seen, while birdlife flourishes around the soda lake, often attracting flamingos in season. With luck, you may even glimpse one of the park’s rare black rhinos, making this one of the few places in East Africa where the Big Five can all be seen in a single day.
